Baskets Made From Cardboard Boxes

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! The weather has been cooler all week and it's been nice to step outside now that there is so much less humidity!

Our youngest daughter seems to be outgrowing the size of her room and is desperately in need of additional storage. The little table under her bulletin board and stenciled jewelry organizer has a couple of shelves that she can use to store things on, but she needed a big basket on the bottom and a smaller basket on the top shelf.

As you may recall I looked for baskets that would fit on the shelves for awhile, but to no avail. I finally found a wine box that was just the right size, glued on some 4 ply jute string and lined it with a drop cloth. I used a
boot box (shoebox) that my daughter had to make the smaller box. You can see how I made it here.

Shown here is the space that needed more covered storage.

The after:

So, if you can't find a  basket that's just the right size, you might consider making a faux basket from a wine, shoebox or some other cardboard box.

Pam, that is brilliant!! What a great idea!! I wonder if wrapping in burlap would work too?

Very clever, you! Good boxes rarely go to waste here, either, but I don't think I have ever done this. good job

This is actually a brilliant idea. I've seen it done on vases but never a box. Great way to get everything to match!

I like the way you think! I have done a lot with carboard boxes! Funny that people can't believe those are actually just cardboard boxes. Looking good!

Perfect timing to find this pin! I have been searching for baskets for my new bench in my mud room with no luck and if you do find one that fits there are only a couple on the shelf and I need 6! Thanks so much for sharing
