Evolution Of The Breakfast Room

The Breakfast Room looked like this for many years.

The large rectangular table was the only seating for dining. We didn't have any barstools so there was plenty of room between the bar and the table.

Then we added barstools and a deeper granite bar top which everyone loved to sit at.  During large gatherings, it was difficult to squeeze between the table and the bar and even to open the door to the deck.

A recent Craigslist find solved this problem. The round pedestal table is 44 inches wide ~ large enough to seat four and still have plenty of room to get between the bar and the table and open the door to the deck. There's even room for a small table in front of the center window and for something small near the pantry doors.

My  Craigslist searches will now include a narrow table to replace the tray table that's in front of the center window and a tall narrow cabinet for the left of the pantry.

So much more is planned for this room (paint, new curtains, slipcovers for the chairs), but I'm so happy with the function of the room with the round table.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Pam

I had the same dilemma a rectangle table that looked out of place and hard to get around. I looked for yrs to find that perfect set, but having a small room all the round tables seemed to be 48in or bigger. I needed to find a 42in. I found exactly what I was looking for at a thrift store. It was tropical looking and it had 2 different sizes glass tops. I bought it with the 42in top and I love it. I'm in the process of painting it white and redoing the cushions into something more beachy. Thanks for a great blog, I just love getting so many ideas from u

That's really neat! I bet you feel like you have a whole new space again. I bet you will find what you are looking for soon enough. I always check the craigs list for your area too when I am looking for something because it seems like yall have so much more goodies then we do. Looking forward to the final changes.

What you have done, and have plans for, is exactly how I treated our breakfast room. The bay windows just scream for a round table :) which leaves room for more storage area and areas to decorate! Love your wooden flooring! Have a great week!!

Your chairs are so pretty and I also love your floors! What a nice looking room.

It does give you much more space in the room...and I love your chairs. I still haven't found anything to buy on Craigslist. I need to look more often!

Hi Pam,
I love your breakfast room. I have a square table in my breakfast room but have been thinking lately that a round table would just be more romantic and your round table certainly looks that way. Lovely.

Wow Pam we are on the same page! I have a 42" round table because my area is so small (much smaller than yours) although my chairs are a little larger than they should be they are so comfy I don't want to give them up. You have done well with Craigslist! I also discovered another free advertising site called Hoobly and I was surprised to find out that there is a local Ebay classifieds too and it's free as wel. Good luck with your hunt on the other items!
