Valentine Hearts

Last night the bug hit me...no, not the flu bug, but that thing where you just have to make something.
Mr. Fanatic was out of town and our daughter was doing homework and I heard my craftroom calling. Once upstairs, I started digging looking through boxes of fabric and found several yards of fabric that my grandmother made me a dress out of when I was about 8 years old. That would make it vintage fabric, no?  If  things from the 60's are considered vintage, then that would make me... oh, never mind.

I found everything needed to make this fun Valentine project in my craft room, so I didn't have to spend a penny.
LOVE THAT!

With no plan in mind I just started cutting out hearts out of the vintage fabric, found some leftover quilting felt and sewed it all up together like a sandwich. Once the pieces were sewn together, I cut the edges with my pinking shears. Then I went to my hoard boxes of ribbon and found some shiny string(that's the fancy name for it) and some burlap ribbon and glued it on the heart.

I had the bare branches in mind when I made them. These branches have had  decorations on them for 3 seasons now. Gotta love it when something you have can be changed up for seasons and holidays.

So what do you call that thing you get when you just HAVE to make something?

Very Cute! Creative Surge is my term. I could use one now. I have been so off track with other important things that my sewing machine and my embroidery machine haven't been on in almost a year. I need a POWER and a Creative Surge!

These are adorable! I don't think I'd have any red scraps of fabric. I love how they are a plaid too. I know that feeling all to well. I love your other friend description; Creative Surge. Sounds pretty accurate to me! Have a great weekend!

Sweet, Pam! I love seeing these Valentine trees! I spent the day sewing hearts from grain sacks. A perfect way to spend a cold, wintery day. :)

Oh, how SEW cute!!!! Love them but love where the fabric came from more! Wish I could get that creative what ever it is bug ~ I think, dig around in my stash and then I "rest." Not much crafting or sewing going on around the Acre lately.

When the urge to create strikes it is so exciting to have all the supplies you need right at home! Then you can get busy when the mojo is strong. Your little hearts are so pretty! I love the way you displayed them on the branch!

I thought I was the only one that as an addiction to making stuff.....when you just HAVE to sew or craft! Not sure what's called but it's a strong feeling. Love the "vintage" hearts. I must be vintage too.

Not sure how I found you, yet I am glad I did! Did you get the branches from your yard? Great idea.

It's called the "itch" at our house, and the outcome is usually a tablecloth or three :^)
We have 1 round and 2 oval tables...and a sofa table...and a sideboard...and a couple of end tables...etc.. I love to make table cloths and runners, so when the itch hits me, I head for the sewing machine!
Your valentine ideas are really cute..I will save them for next year!
Blessings to you,
J
